The housing minister has confirmed that eleven people are living at the shelter operating out of the former Airport Comfort Inn.
That’s down from the reported thirteen residents who were staying at the facility over a month ago.
Housing critic Joedy Wall accused Hutton of withholding information when he did not receive an answer to the question last week, with Hutton saying he could provide the number at a later time.
Hutton was able to confirm the number of residents when Wall posed the question again in the House of Assembly yesterday afternoon.
He says there are eleven people living at the facility and ten staff providing on-site services.
Hutton says some of those eleven were previously living at the tent encampment on the grounds of Colonial Building, but would not say exactly how many due to privacy concerns.
The minister says some of the residents had been living there under an agreement with the owners of the hotel before it was leased to government for shelter use.
“But to discuss the exact number of people who are there would be a privacy breach so we’re not going to discuss that.”
