The Liberal government is pressing the PCs after the Muslim Association spoke out to indicate that they received a derogatory email from someone who was supportive of controversial comments made by Baie Vert-Green Bay candidate Lin Paddock.
The messages have been forwarded to law enforcement.
Immigration Minister Gerry Byrne brought up the situation in the House of Assembly while responding to an unrelated question by the PCs.
Byrne asks leader Tony Wakeham if he believes he has done enough to root out Islamophobia and other forms of racism in the province.
Wakeham reaffirms comments he made earlier this week that “there is no space for hate in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.” He adds that on Monday, people in Baie Verte-Green Bay will choose who they want to represent them.
