SIRT-NL is offering very little detail, but confirms that it was contacted by RCMP this morning indicating that police officers were involved in a shooting on Refinery Road in Arnold’s Cove.
The Serious Incident Response Team is a civilian-led oversight agency that conducts investigations into serious incidents involving police officers.
The incident forced the closure of Refinery Road in Arnold’s Cove and the Main Road in Come By Chance while the investigation was carried out.
SIRT-NL Director Stephen Ring says because the investigation is ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further.
An update is expected at the end of the investigation.
