Marine Atlantic is doing what it can to clear backlogs caused by a steady and unrelenting succession of storms over the last few weeks.

Marine Atlantic’s Darrell Mercer says more commercial crossings have been added to the schedule.

Despite the weather, the strategy appears to be working at what is one of the busiest times of the year.

“Even over the last week, we’ve transported 300 commercial units to Newfoundland…obviously it’s not bringing everybody across immediately…but we try to get those packages, once they arrive at our terminals, to their destination as quickly as we can.”
