A proposed settlement of $18 million has been reached in a class action involving an incident involving Air Canada flight 624 on March 29, 2015.
The flight in question struck power lines and landed short of the runway at Halifax airport. The passengers were evacuated and some were taken to hospital.
The lawsuit was certified as a class action in December of 2016 and while a trial was set to begin this January against Air Canada, NAV Canada, the Halifax International Airport Authority, Airbus and the Attorney General of Canada, the proposed settlement now means that no trial will occur.
If approved in the Nova Scotia Supreme Court, the $18 million settlement will provide compensation to passengers and cover legal fees and expenses.
Dates for the approval motion have not yet been set.
