A 52-year-old woman has been arrested for suspected impaired driving after first responders reported a vehicle off the road.

The incident happened early Sunday morning when Sheshatshiu RCMP were called by paramedics, who reported a pickup truck off the highway between Sheshatshiu and Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

Paramedics noticed the woman in the vehicle drive away and suspected she was under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

The woman was tracked down a short while later where police also discovered her licence was expired and she did not have insurance or registration.

She was taken to hospital where a blood sample was collected. RCMP are awaiting the results in order to determine if impaired driving charges are warranted.
