Labrador is set to plunge into a deep freeze following a period of unseasonably mild weather.
The cold front will move through the region beginning this afternoon and continue for a few days.
It has been relatively mild so far this winter, but that all changes today in Labrador West as the mercury drops to minus 20. Things don’t warm up much until mid-week.
In the Upper Lake Melville area, minus-20 temperatures hit tonight and will last for the next few days.
Environment Canada meteorologist Jill Maepea says it’s all part of a larger cold front affecting the eastern portion of North America.
She says Quebec and parts of the Maritimes are also in for a blast of Arctic air.
