An associate professor in MUN’s Faculty of Business says Memorial’s Harlow campus in the U.K. could be developed into a vital business and trade hub for the province.
Memorial is looking at ways to cut expenses and many fear that Harlow is on the chopping block.
Tom Cooper argues that instead of selling off the asset, it could prove a valuable economic generator.
He admits that selling Harlow could bring in some quick cash, but doesn’t address underlying financial issues. He says the campus took decades to build, and can’t be replaced, and it could serve as a hub for Newfoundland and Labrador to connect to the U.K. and Europe.
