A professor at Toronto Metropolitan University is stressing the importance of AI literacy for all as the new technology becomes more engrained in every day life.
Dr. Wendy Cukier was a keynote speaker at the recent AI, Future Skills, and Productivity Conference in St. John’s.
She believes, based on how quickly the technology is evolving, that AI will impact all jobs, and the question is how quickly that will happen.
She says Canadians need to prepare for the use of AI, which she believes will be “disruptive, but will also create opportunities” for businesses. She says even if people aren’t using it in their jobs, everyone needs basic AI literacy to protect against AI cybersecurity threats and fraud.
