RCMP officers and employees from Newfoundland and Labrador will be heading to the FIFA World Cup to assist with policing.
The international soccer tournament is being co-hosted by Canada, the United States and Mexico – featuring matches in Vancouver and Toronto.
Members of the RCMP from this province will be assisting in security efforts at the matches and celebrations in British Columbia.
While the Mounties are unable to say how many officers will be away for the tournament, they assure that adequate staffing will be maintained here at home.
The World Cup begins Thursday, June 11.
