A Newfoundland writer has been included in the Giller Prize Writers’ Circle – a new advisory panel composed of award-winning Canadian writers, playwrights, journalists, documentarians and historians.

William Ping of St. John’s has a number of awards under his belt for his debut novel Hollow Bamboo published by HarperCollins in 2023.

He joins Eric Dupont, Charlotte Gray, Ann-Marie MacDonald, Tanya Talaga and Kai Thomas on the new panel.

The Writers’ Circle will serve as an advisory body to the Giller Foundation and offer guidance to help shape its approach to supporting the writing community.
