Canada Post says it’s working on solutions in order to resume personal and business shipping to the EU with the busy Christmas season fast approaching.
Back on July 1, Canada Post paused package delivery to nine EU countries – including France and Germany – in response to changes to the EU’s custom and import Value Added Tax rules.
The EU changes mean that most commercial and ecommerce goods imported into the European Union are subject to customs duty – regardless of value.
The change eliminates the low-value duty consignment threshold, and introduces a temporary flat fee of €3 per item.
Canada Post says the temporary suspension of parcel delivery to select countries in the EU continues while it works to find solutions that will comply with the new regulations while minimizing disruptions.
Regular letter mail is not affected.
