An investigation into allegations of harassment and bullying at the City of Mount Pearl remains open after what has been a tumultuous year in the municipality.
The investigation came to light after former CAO Steve Kent suddenly stepped away from the job on a leave of absence in October of last year. Kent subsequently resigned from the position in June.

The ongoing investigation has sparked a lawsuit and countersuit between Kent and his former employer.
Two councilors, Andrea Power and Andrew Ledwell, were then dismissed for alleged conflict of interest after communications between Kent and others were found on a city-owned laptop.

Mayor Dave Aker subsequently stepped aside as an investigation was launched into an allegation of harassment made against him by Power. That process is still underway.
Meanwhile, a byelection to fill the two vacant seats has been deferred until June of next year or until an appeal process that was launched is completed, whichever takes place first.
The city is now recruiting for a new CAO.
