The province has released more details on the task force that will decide how $320-million in federal funding for the recovery of the offshore will be spent.
The task force will be co-chaired by Bill Fanning and Karen Windsor, and will include 19 other members representing various workstreams, those being: policy and regulation, exploration and development, energy transition, and supply chain.
The mandate of the task force is to develop recommendations to sustain the offshore industry in the short term and drive its recovery over the long term.
The recommendations will come in the form of eligibility parameters for delivery of the funding, and prioritization criteria for eligible proposals. These will focus on the creation of direct and indirect employment, generation of environmental benefits, and maximizing the value of the industry for Newfoundlanders ad Labradorians.
The task force is being asked to work quickly. They must submit their guidance on eligibility and prioritization within 30 days, and within 90 days must submit recommendations for immediate actions.
