The Canadian Civil Liberties Association has yet to confirm whether it will appeal the Supreme Court’s decision regarding Newfoundland and Labrador’s travel ban.
A woman filed a challenge in Supreme Court after she was denied entry into this province to attend her mother’s funeral. The case argued that the prohibition violated mobility rights.
However, last month, Justice Donald Burrage ruled that the travel ban is upheld by Section 1 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms in response to the pandemic.
The CCLA says the deadline to file an appeal is this Monday.
The association’s director is expected to provide an update on its decision early Monday afternoon.
