The company interested in buying the Come By Chance refinery is seeking transparency as to why their offer was rejected.
Word emerged yesterday that Silverpeak—the owner of North Atlantic Refinery Limited—found Origin International’s first offer unsatisfactory, and rejected the expression of interest.
Origin argues that its offer for NARL and its assets was competitive, and had the proper financial backing. The company requested that Silverpeak publicly release the reasoning behind its decision, stating “It is time for transparency and openness.”
This week, the company stressed that time is of the essence to mitigate the potential ill-effects of letting the refinery go into cold shutdown.
While Origin is the first company to bring its interest to the public sphere, Energy Minister Andrew Parsons indicated that other parties have expressed interest.
