RCMP in Trinity-Conception had their hands full on the weekend in relation to three separate collisions connected to alleged impaired driving.
Bay Roberts RCMP were called to a two-vehicle crash in Shearstown on Saturday evening. One driver suffered minor injuries in the collision, but the other—a 38-year-old man from Shearstown—left the scene before police showed up. He was located and arrested for drug-impaired driving, and is facing possible charges pending test results.
Later that evening, Bay Roberts RCMP were called after a car rear-ended another in a drive-thru. The car left the scene before police arrived, but a short time later the same vehicle was found stuck in a snowbank. The driver—a 32-year-old Marystown man—was arrested for drug-impaired driving and police are awaiting the results of a blood sample to determine if charges will be laid.
Meanwhile on Sunday, Harbour Grace RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle crashing into a garage in Old Perlican. Police say they learned that a 46-year-old woman had allegedly assaulted a person inside a home, she was removed from the house and subsequently drove an SUV into the garage, causing significant damage.
Police say breath samples were more than twice the legal limit. She’s been charged with impaired driving, assault, and damage to property over $5,000.
