The federal government is launching a new program to help businesses affected by the second wave of the pandemic.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced during a COVID-19 briefing carried live on VOCM this afternoon that the program allows for low-interest loans of up to $1-million to be used for things like utilities and rent. Applications open on Monday. Ottawa is partnering with financial institutions to roll out the program. More details will be announced by the feds this afternoon.
The PM also reiterated that every Canadian who wishes to be vaccinated against COVID-19 will be able to do so by the end of September. We will be receiving 6-million doses by the end of March from Pfizer and Moderna.
Europe is warning drug makers it might impose export controls on European-made vaccine doses but the PM says the contracts Canada signed will be respected.

He says new restrictions on travel are coming and is urging Canadians to cancel all travel plans they may have. He says that includes cancelling travel abroad and travel to other provinces.
