The Town of Conception Bay South is going to hold a special meeting in a couple of weeks on the controversial proposal by Ocean Choice international for a cold storage facility at Long Pond Harbour.
The original proposal has been revised, and the town council says it now knows its jurisdictional boundaries following clarification from the Department of Municipal Affairs.
OCI has moved its location closer to the industrial side of the port, a move which Deputy Mayor Richard Murphy calls significant and which strikes a more favourable balance between recreational and commercial/industrial users of the area.
The chair of the planning and development committee, Rex Hillier, says the special meeting will focus exclusively on OCI’s proposal and will be available to the public through the town’s YouTube channel.
The special meeting of council takes place on June 29th at 7:00 p.m.
