The province’s “pushup man” is halfway through his cross-island walk in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association.
Bill Guiney has been walking for 19 days. He began his trek in Port aux Basques and has passed through Gander, walking well over 500 kms. In addition, Guiney is doing 10 pushups for every kilometer he travels—living up to his well-earned nickname.
He says many people have been stopping to drop off donations and even do pushups with him on the side of the highway.
Guiney’s hope is that he’ll be in St. John’s and able to make his triumphant walk up Signal Hill on August 20.
He says it’s also a way to see the province that very few people have seen.
