Two of three local rugby teams from this province claimed gold medals at the Atlantic championships in Saint John, New Brunswick this past weekend.
Both the under-17 and under-19 men’s Rock teams emerged champions, beating Nova Scotia sides in the gold medal matches.

Meanwhile, the under-17 women’s squad finished with two wins, two losses and a draw, good enough for fourth place.
The weekend event marked the first rugby tournament in Canada since 2019, after all matches were postponed last year due to the pandemic.
In total, 73 players and 12 coaches and managers made up the Rock contingent from Newfoundland and Labrador.
