A 57-year-old man is facing possible drug-impaired driving charges after being pulled over for allegedly speeding in a construction zone on Saturday, August 7.
An RCMP officer with Traffic Services East was on patrol on the Trans Canada near Holyrood around 4:30 p.m., when a pickup truck passed his cruiser in a 50 km/h construction zone. The truck was clocked at 106 km/h.
According to police, the officer pulled the truck over and noticed the driver showed signs of marijuana impairment.
RCMP say a roadside oral swab tested positive for marijuana and a Drug Influence Evaluation was conducted at the Holyrood Detachment the results of which will determine whether drug impaired driving charges will be laid.
The man’s license was suspended and his vehicle impounded.
