A group of car enthusiasts and volunteers are gathering in St. John’s today for a special event in hopes of raising enough money to partner a young man, born with a rare eye condition, with a guide dog.
Wheels for Wishes is partnering with the CNIB for this year’s event in support of 18-year-old Brandon Joy. Having graduated from high school in June, Brandon plans on attending Memorial University this fall. Event organizers say partnership with a guide dog will help Brandon with improved mobility and independence.
Funds raised in support of the CNIB’s Guide Dog Program will cover the cost of raising, training, and matching guide dogs with families, as well as the cost of vet bills and food.
The event, promising live music, raffles, and a variety of classic cars, gets underway at Bristol Court off Kelsey Drive in St. John’s at 11 a.m.
