A single vehicle crash in Bonavista has claimed the life of an elderly man.
RCMP received a report about a crash on Station Road around 9 p.m. Wednesday.
They arrived to find an SUV on its side in a ditch.
Two people trapped inside the vehicle were removed by local firefighters, but the 84-year-old driver died at the scene.
Neither the driver, nor his passenger was wearing seatbelts. The passenger was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Police say speed was not a factor in the incident.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
