The province has officially kicked off its vaccination campaign for kids ages 5 to 11, and many parents are excited to see their kids finally getting the shot.
Not long after school let out for the day on Thursday, children and their parents began fill the clinic on Mundy Pond Road to become some of the first kids in the province to receive their vaccines.
Nine-year-old Charlie Gover was one of them, he received his shot from Dr. Janice Fitzgerald.
Charlie says he wasn’t too nervous going in, and aside from his arm being a bit sore was feeling good after getting his shot.
Charlie’s dad, Gerry, was at the clinic with his son to watch him get his vaccine.
He says he’s excited that the day has finally come that kids in the 5 to 11 age group can get vaccinated. He hopes it will get everyone on a path to what life was like before COVID.
Appointments are now open in the Eastern Health region for kids to get their shots, and the health authority is currently working to finalize the dates for school clinics.
