Four men were arrested following a police investigation into a reported shoplifting incident at Walmart in Carbonear on Tuesday.
Harbour Grace RCMP were notified of a reported theft at the store shortly before 11:30 Tuesday morning.
Police were told that the suspects left the store with a variety of merchandise—valued at about $700 to $800—without paying and drove away in a blue Jeep.
The vehicle was located a few minutes later on the Veterans Memorial Highway heading towards the Trans-Canada.
The four occupants of the vehicle were arrested and the stolen property was recovered along with merchandise from another business.
The four men, ranging in age from 44 to 57, were charged with theft under $5,000 dollars and possession of property obtained by crime.
One man is also facing a charge of possession of a controlled drug.
The accused are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
