Landwash Brewery in Mount Pearl is excited to have a significant piece of local beer heritage after making the winning bid for the Fitz’s Cold Beer sign.
Landwash was the successful bidder for the sign, putting up $4,300, all of which will go to the Cancer Care Foundation.
Partner and general manager at the brewery, Chris Conway, says Fitz’s Cold Beer was a big part of the community worth preserving.
While they haven’t decided exactly where to hang it yet, it will be somewhere in the taproom. He says there’ll be an accompanying plaque to explain some of the history behind it.
Meanwhile, Conway says the sign won’t be the only piece of provincial beer memorabilia on display the location.
While they don’t have any other pieces yet, they are working with Admiralty House on a small exhibit in their hallway.
Conway says there are lots of interesting pieces out there, noting some of the things in his own personal collection.
He says there are things such as bottles and signs which go “pretty deep” culturally.
