A rock ‘n’ roll icon has passed away.
Tina Turner passed at the age of 83 after a long illness.
Labelled the “Queen of Rock”, Turner was known for her larger than life stage persona and numerous smash hits, spanning six decades. Notable hits include “What’s Love Got to Do With It?”, “Proud Mary” and “We Don’t Need Another Hero”.

She rose to prominence playing alongside her then-husband Ike Turner, before leaving the abusive relationship and shooting off to superstardom thanks to her gravelly, unique voice and unmatched energy and stage presence.
In 1985, Turner came to St. John’s as part of her North American tour and played to a packed house at the old Memorial Stadium.
Funeral details are yet to be announced.
