A horticulturalist is describing the “amazing” scenes created by the surplus of pollen around this year.
Todd Boland, who works with MUN’s Botanical Garden, says it has been a significant year for pollen, owing to a “banner year” for growing last year.
He explains that the trees held on to all their pollen due to the cold weather in May and early June, and now that buildup is being released all at once.
Boland says he took students up on the trails in the Botanical Garden and “waves” of pollen rising from the trees were visible.
