Work to demolish the old Grace Hospital nurses’ residence has begun.
A $2.5 million contract for the work was awarded to Inflector Environmental Services earlier this year.
A perimeter was set up at the site this summer as the company prepared for the work.
The building has sat vacant for years and is widely considered to be an eyesore in the capital city’s downtown.
Government has hinted that, once the building is torn down, the site will be chosen for the replacement of St. Clare’s.
