The Mayor of Victoria has taken to social media after being informed of ATVs accessing the evacuated town of Salmon Cove through the old Salmon Cove Road from Victoria.

Mayor Barry Dooley says Salmon Cove is under evacuation order, which means no one is allowed into the community, in addition to the current ban on ATV use in wooded areas.

Thousands of people from Salmon Cove to Northern Bay had to leave their homes nearly two weeks ago because of a wildfire in Kingston that has since grown to more than 8,000 hectares and has consumed approximately 100 homes and other structures.

The old Salmon Cove Road runs through an area that is comprised of woods and heavy brush.
