A 44-year-old man is dead, and a woman is under investigation as the result of a collision on the Trans Canada near Cape Ray on the province’s southwest coast on the weekend.
RCMP in Channel-Port aux Basques and other first responders were called to the scene around 5:00 p.m. Sunday.
The victim had been ejected from the vehicle and, despite the efforts of passersby, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 37-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. She was arrested at hospital and was ordered to produce blood samples, but refused to comply.
Facing a single charge of refusing to comply with a blood demand, she is scheduled to appear in court December 3rd.
