A 36-year-old man from Colinet has been charged with impaired driving and uttering threats after the SUV he was driving left the Trans Canada near Witless Bay Line.
RCMP in Holyrood responded after receiving numerous calls from concerned drivers about a vehicle off the road Monday evening.
Callers who stopped to help told police that the driver was aggressive and possibly drunk.
Police found the driver, who was still sitting behind the wheel, with open liquor inside the SUV.
Responding officers requested a breath sample, but the man refused and was taken to the detachment where he engaged in a belligerent exchange with officers.
He’s now charged with refusal, uttering threats, and failing to comply with the conditions of a release order. He was released to appear in court January 30th. The SUV was impounded.
