The City of Corner Brook is holding the line on taxes, despite a significant increase in spending.
The financial blueprint is worth $44.7-million, an increase of 6.7 per cent over this year.

Mayor Linda Chaisson says the fee was brought in because the garbage and the recyclables were squishing together, resulting in higher tipping fees at the landfill in Wild Cove. The collection process has now been separated.
They have a new truck to pick up the garbage, and the old trucks will pick up the recycling.
Corner Brook is following other large municipalities in the province and going with automated garbage collection. Every household will receive a durable, maintenance-free garbage cart.
The city is going to try extending the hours of operation of the bus service on weekdays until 11:00, and offer service on Saturdays.
There is a payment option for business taxes, and interest for residential and business property taxes has been reduced by 50 per cent.
The budget allocates funds for a new combined plow truck and salter to improve snow clearing efficiency on main roads, and additional resources have been allocated for sidewalk snow clearing, with a particular focus on the downtown core.
