An access card is now required for anyone wanting to drop off items at waste recovery facilities operated by the Eastern Regional Service Board.
The access card system is only for ERSB facilities, and does not include the Robin Hood Bay landfill, as that is operated by the city of St. John’s.
The facilities accept oversized items such as old appliances and furniture that cannot be collected at the curb. Regular household garbage and recycling are not accepted.
Anyone who does not have an access card can apply for one, but the organization says processing time can take up to six weeks.
