It’s expected be a stormy start to the first week of work and school for the new year on the Avalon Peninsula.
Environment Canada has warnings out for the Avalon Peninsula with 15 – 25 cm of snow in the offing. It begins late Sunday night and continues until about lunchtime Monday.
The western half of the Avalon including Trinity and the Placentia area, is forecast to get 10-15 cm while Clarenville is in for 5-10 and central and the south coast can expect about 5 cm.
To compound matters, winds will pick up on the Avalon to the 60-70kmh range, creating blizzard-like conditions at times.
