Two brothers charged in the killing of a St. John’s man in the city’s east end last year were back in Supreme Court yesterday.
They were there once again to set trial dates, but once again that was postponed – as it was in December.
Court was told then, and again yesterday, that an issue has come up involving the defence for Ibrahim Hussein, who’s charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Gerald Kyle Hynes.
That issue can’t be made public, but it is complicating things for Hussein’s older brother, according to his lawyer. Hussein Hussein is charged with accessory to murder after the fact, and resisting or obstructing an officer.
Four others are also charged with accessory after the fact – accused of helping the alleged shooter evade police and escape. They’re due in Provincial Court next month.
A date has been set in early February to manage all pre-trial issues for the Hussein brothers.
Another attempt to set trial dates will happen in early March.
