The minister of municipal affairs says the incorporation of Mainland and Three Rock Cove on the Port au Port Peninsula is “full steam ahead.”
Questions have been raised by residents of the two unincorporated communities about where the process, which began in 2022, stands but Minister Chris Tibbs says the next step is taking the information supplied by the committee to the lieutenant governor in council to have it finalized.
He says the premier wanted the amalgamation done “because it meant a lot to him, the department and the people most of all,” Tibbs told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly. He says the two communities were informed about what they can expect as they incorporate as a town. “They’re quite happy with it, we’re quite happy with it, and we’re full steam ahead.”
