New data indicates that more people across the country are feeling uneasy walking alone at night, and the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary assures its members are around and ready to respond.
The poll, from the Angus Reid Institute, indicates that the number of people who feel comfortable walking alone in their neighbourhood at night has decreased compared to data collected in 2022 and 2015.
Constable Steph Myers, who stresses that their members are always ready to respond if needed, shares a few tips for people who have to be out alone after dark.
She suggests walking with a family member, letting people know when you leave and where you will be going, and turning on location services on your phone so friends and family can check in.
