Damage to the Southwest River Bridge near Port Blandford has temporarily severed direct trans-island travel on the Trans Canada Highway.
A tractor trailer crashed at the scene yesterday, causing damage to the structure.
A detour is in place via the Bonavista Highway and officials are assessing the situation to determine when the highway can reopen.
