Municipal Affairs Minister Chris Tibbs says government is working on a plan to remove the rotting fish sauce from the deteriorating plant in St. Mary’s “in a responsible manner.”
Minister Tibbs visited the site yesterday with officials from three separate government departments before winds gusting to 100 km/h started blowing once again.
On Friday, strong winds blew a portion of the ocean-facing side of the building away, exposing the interior of the structure and the fetid mess inside, to the elements.
Tibbs says addressing the situation is a top priority for government.
“Premier Wakeham said to get this building secure first…there’s a school in proximity to this building and we want to make sure that nobody gets hurt. That’s our first priority.”
