Playdowns begin today in St. John’s to determine who will represent Newfoundland and Labrador at the Montana’s Brier beginning at the end of February.
It will be the last hurrah for Brad Gushue, who will put away the broom for good after the event, but there will also be a host team.
Eugene Trickett, co-chair of the tournament, says 11 teams are in the hunt. The championship, with a triple round-robin event, will clew up on the weekend.
“There’s a team coming all the way from Goose Bay, and all these teams have put in a lot of work to represent the province,” says Trickett.
Meanwhile, the last batch of tickets goes on sale at noon today.
