A west coast woman facing dozens of animal abuse charges finally has a new lawyer, but still no trial dates.
And she may not need them if her comments in Stephenville court yesterday are any indication.
Fifty-year-old Michelle Young stands accused of causing “unnecessary pain, suffering or injury” to animals on her land in the Codroy Valley.
A four-day trial was set for last year but was postponed when Young and her lawyer parted ways.
Yesterday it was confirmed that her Legal Aid application was approved and a lawyer will be assigned this week.
Young told the judge she was close to a plea bargain with her previous lawyer before they parted ways.
The judge said that’s something she can take up with her new lawyer prior to entering pleas and potentially setting trial dates on February 26.
