Over $1.7-million in funding from all three levels of government has been announced for water and sewer upgrades in Carbonear and Upper Island Cove.
Infrastructure minister Barry Petten made the announcement in Carbonear Monday.
That town will receive funding to replace 300 metres of watermain and sewer systems on Garlands Lane, which the province says will provide more reliable service to 13 homes and support future developments.
In Upper Island Cove, 210 metres of water lines will be replaced along Dobbin’s Lane, Sharpe’s Lane, and Catty’s Lane, impacting 15 homes.
Petten says the plan is for the work to start during this year’s construction season.
He says all of the approvals have been given, and the two towns will be working with the contractors.
