Some 450 young swimmers from across the province dove into the pool last week for the annual Swim for Hope, raising $183,000 in support of cancer care.
The relay-style event brought together swimmers from eleven clubs who collected individual and corporate pledges leading up to the event.
Kelly Reid, CEO of the Cancer Care Foundation, says every dollar raised helps improve cancer care for patients and families throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
The funds go to cancer care programs and equipment at centres in St. John’s, Gander, Grand Falls-Windsor and Corner Brook, as well as regional programs across the province.
