The wintery weather isn’t done for yet as eastern and southern portions of the island are in for more snow tonight and into tomorrow.
Environment Canada meteorologist David Neil says almost the entire island will get some snow with this system. However, there are special weather statements in effect for eastern Newfoundland up to Clarenville, and the south coast.
Snow will begin in the southwest tonight and move east overnight.
He says the system will taper to flurries in the west in the afternoon, and the snow will continue into the evening in the east.
Snowfall amounts will be in the 10-15 cm range for most.
As Neil explains, there is a possibility of freezing rain or ice pellets mixing with the snow, mainly in the southern portions of the Burin Peninsula and the Avalon, later tonight and into tomorrow morning.
He says that would happen, if at all, later tomorrow afternoon, since there is a chance the mixing could remain offshore.
