An Ontario man has been charged by police in this province in connection with a Facebook Marketplace scam.
Back in November, RCMP in Holyrood got a call from a resident who had sent someone an e-transfer for a listing that ended up being fraudulent.
Through the course of the investigation, RCMP were able to link the seller’s social media handle and e-mail address to other suspicious online activity.
The man behind the account was identified as a 24-year-old from Windsor, Ontario.
He has been summoned to appear in court in St. John’s in June on charge of fraud under $5,000.
