The well-known former executive director of a local violence prevention organization has been charged with defrauding the group of more than $135,000.
RNC say 50-year-old Valerie Barter of CBS has been charged with fraud over $5,000, forgery, uttering a forged document, using a forged document, false pretenses, mischief related to computer data and breach of trust.
The Constabulary’s investigation was launched in December of 2023 after receiving a report from Violence Prevention Avalon East.
Barter was arrested on related charges in December of 2024.
She has been released to appear in court at a later date.
