The minister of justice is encouraged by some suggestions to help organize court cases on a daily basis.
A working group was struck late last year after a number of courts were abruptly adjourned or suspended.
The group presented its findings and suggestions on systemic issues within the court system to minister Helen Conway Ottenheimer last week.
She says the group examined a court triage system and case management courts to help move cases along.
“A triage court…that will be held daily,” says Conway Ottenheimer, “that they organize the day’s cases so that the judge’s sitting time increases.”
She says they also examined “case management courts. That will prioritize serious cases, and that will be addressing the specific Jordan timelines. So that’s something that they looked at also which is I think, very encouraging.”
