The Opposition is calling on the ministers of women and gender equality and justice and public safety to speak out in the wake of two recent violent incidents in Grand Falls-Windsor.
Pam Parsons, the former minister of women and gender equality under the previous government, says both Lela Evans and Helen Conway Ottenheimer were vocal on issues of gender-based violence while in opposition.
“I have to ask, where is the minister? The minister for women and gender equality as well as the minister of justice and public safety. Prior to the election, we heard them loud and clear, calling to (have) intimate partner violence officially (declared an epidemic) here in Newfoundland and Labrador.”
